In the early 1990’s Dr. Padraic Deighan began transforming general dermatology practices into cosmetic dermatology “medical spas.” However, they were not officially referred to as “medical spas.” Dr. Deighan’s vision was to combine medical dermatology, dermasurgery, cosmetic dermatology, and plastic surgery and a full range of aesthetic services. His efforts, education and experience resulted in him becoming the CEO of the largest network of dermatology and plastic surgery medical spas. These centers offered a complete array of products and services and were among the first of their kind, and were located in multiple states. The company was sold in 2005, and Dr. Deighan focused on helping others. When you combine medicine and spa services, the result is a daunting combination of state and federal laws, general principles of law and medicine and practical considerations. He has spent many years in both industries and helped create the wave now known as “medical spas.” The combination of medicine and spa services is a truly remarkable concept. When done correctly, it is a profitable and rewarding experience. He has worked with over 4,000 medical, dental and spa facilities throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
